Allen Michael Stokes, age 70, of LaSalle, died on May 15, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sturm Funeral Home in Saint James and will continue on Thursday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church in Saint James. Funeral service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Saint James on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the LaSalle Cemetery in LaSalle. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Saint James. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
Al was born December 9, 1954, to John "Jack" and Evelyn (Allen) Stokes in Madelia. He graduated from Madelia High School in 1973. On November 10, 1979, he married Pam Goossen in Saint James and they raised 3 children in LaSalle.
In August of 1973, Al started working at LaSalle Farmers Grain. He was passionate and proud of his career working his way through the feed mill, agronomy and grain departments and in 2019, Al retired from what is now known as Crystal Valley Co-op after 47 years of service.
In his free time, Al enjoyed watching TV and movies, woodworking, camping, going out to eat, tinkering on his '72 Gran Torino, and enjoying either a Keystone or Miller Lite beer during happy hour. Al was a people person who enjoyed getting to know others and simply having a good conversation, he could truly talk with anyone. Most of all, he was a family man, that cared deeply for his family, especially his five grandchildren.
Al is survived by his wife, Pam; children, Jenny Stokes of Otsego, Minnesota, Bob Stokes of LaSalle, and Nikki (Tim) Westberg of Saint James; grandchildren, Rissa (Kahsen VanWyk), Mia, and Connor Westberg, and Allen and Alayna Stokes; mother-in-law, Darlene Goossen; sister-in-law, Lori (Scott Guyer) Goossen; brothers-in-law, Darrell Goossen, Donavan (Sher) Goossen and Mike (Maria) Goossen; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Al was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Dennis Goossen.
