Allen Joe Groebner, age 71, of Springfield, died on April 21, 2026, at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN and will continue on Monday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield, MN on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
Allen Joe Groebner was born on January 12, 1955, in Burnstown Township, the son of Gerhardt and Rosella (Vogel) Groebner. After school he served in the United States Marines from 1974 – 1976 achieving the rank of Advanced Corporal. Al married Robin Pingeon on July 24, 1976, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lamberton. He started and ran his own business, Al’s Repair and later worked for Harvestland until his retirement. After a couple of years or retirement, he began working at St. Paul Lutheran Church in maintenance which he loved, as well as farming with his brother Richard. Al enjoyed being outdoors. He would spend hours tending to his yard, flowers and trees making sure they were all well-kept. Above all, he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was always there when someone needed him no matter what was happening in his life. Al was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Springfield American Legion.
Al is survived by his wife Robin; children – Adam (Sarah) Groebner, Angela (Eric) Daun, Amanda (Scott) Olsem; grandchildren – Julia, Daniel, Nathan and Nicolas Groebner, Jennifer (Eli) Smith, Kimberly and Jason Piotter, Eva Daun, Jacob, Kenzie, Andrew Albrecht, Adriana, Braiden and Kenzie Olsem; great-grandson – August Smith; siblings - Gary (Deb) Groebner, Larry (Ann) Groebner, Jim (Elsie) Groebner, David (Sandy) Groebner, Richard (Jayna) Groebner, Janice (Patrick) Hoffman, Karen (Gary) Jensen, Rose (Barry) Hoecherl, Steve Marks, Deb (Duane) Feser, Julie (Steve) Platz; sister-in-law Marlys Jenniges, brothers-in-law Delbert (Kay) Pingeon and Dean Beerman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Rosella and Gerhardt Groebner, siblings Michael Groebner and Diane Marks, parents-in-law Donald and Violet Pingeon, son-in-law Bobbie Albrecht, sister-in-law Elaine Beerman and brother-in-law Tom Jenniges.
