Alice Jenniges

Alice Mary Jenniges was born June 11, 1926, in Johnsonville Township, Redwood County, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Wagner) Kaufenberg. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan. Alice attended Country School #48 in Redwood County and graduated from Wabasso High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Omer Jenniges in 1949, at Our Lady of Victory. Following marriage, the couple moved to a farm north of Lamberton in Waterbury Township. Alice worked at the grocery store and later, the variety store. They moved into Wanda in 1989, retiring after 41 years of farming. Alice was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda, taught religion classes, served as Secretary of the CCW, and was a member of the Lady Foresters. She also helped with Wanda American Legion activities, was an election judge the past 10 years, and was a member of the Senior Citizens, and the Chitter-Chatter group. Alice enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards, baking, reading, and word-search puzzles. She also enjoyed watching television, the Minnesota Twins, and spending time with her family. Alice will always be remembered for her saying, There's more to life than cleaning chickens. Alice Mary Jenniges died Saturday, February 3, 2007, surrounded by family at her home at the age of 80 years. She is survived by husband- Omer; children- Rozann Rose of Bloomington, Thomas (Marlys) Jenniges of Lamberton, Robert (Debra) Jenniges of Revere, Kevin (Lisa) Jenniges of Walnut Grove, Monica (Christopher) Blegen of Pemberton, Mary (Todd) Evans of Lamberton, and Wendy (Tom) Haley of Plainview; 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers- Vernon (Yvonne) Kaufenberg of Olivia, and Arnold (Irene) Kaufenberg of Redwood Falls; and sister-in-law- Florence Kaufenberg of Lamberton. She is preceded in death by her parents; son- Rodney Jenniges in 1985; and brothers- Leo Kaufenberg, Norman (Millie) Kaufenberg, and William (Alvina) Kaufenberg.
