Alice Hartman

Alice Amelia Hartman was born May 26, 1912 in Ewington Township, Jackson Co, the daughter of Rudy and Caroline (Hecht) Baumgard. She attended Country School in Jackson County. On January 25, 1947 she married Bernard Hartman in Hopkins, MN. Alice has lived in Brewster, Windom, and St. James. She has worked at a waitress, a telephone operator in Windom and the couple owned and operated Davis Paint Store in St. James for 24 years. Alice also worked as a Cook at the Hospital until her retirement. Alice enjoyed gardening, flowers, especially Glads, cooking, baking, and visiting with family, friends, and neighbors. Alice died on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at Pleasant View in St. James, MN. She is survived by her daughters - Jeanine Hartman and her husband - Jon Hagelund of Socorro, NM and Janice and husband Kenneth Stoesz of St. James, MN; 5 brothers - Raymond and wife Mavis Baumgard of Brewster, Marvin and wife Betty Baumgard of Brewster, Donald Baumgard of Brewster, Merle and wife Eunice Baumgard of Round Lake, and Darold and wife Alice Baumgard of Rochester; 2 sisters - Hazel Baumgard of Ellsworth and Berdina and husband Harold Hogan of Worthington; a sister - in - law - Barb Baumgard of Worthington; Harlan and wife Yvonne Place of Lakefield and many other nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Bernard; brothers - Les Baumgard and Wesley Baumgard; a sister - Edna Place; sisters - in - law - Bertha Hartman, Gracie Mae Greenslit, Marian, and Bernice Wesvig; brothers - in - law - Clifford Hartman and Sherman Hartman.
