Alice Christiensen

June 27, 1912 — December 15, 2004

Alice was born on June 27, 1912 in Sleepy Eye, MN, the daughter of Henry Johanna (Dumke) Volker. Alice was baptized at St. John's Church in Sleepy Eye on August 20, 1912. She along with four sisters and two brothers grew up in Sleepy Eye. Alice graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School, and upon graduation she worked in Fairfax and Sleepy Eye. She married Orrien Curly Christiensen on July 10, 1938 in Sleepy Eye where they made their home until moving to Fargo, ND and later to Huntington, CA. Upontheir return to Sleepy Eye, Alice was a homemaker and also worked at Star Cleaners and Stadick Rexall Drug. Alice was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye and a retired member of the Women of Grace. She enjoyed writing letters to family and friends, playing cards and bingo, word puzzles and visiting her oldest daughter Karen and her family on their farm and visits with her youngest daughter Debbie. Grandma LaLe loved to read stories to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her two daughters, Karen husband Virgil Ackerman of Atwater, MN; Debbie special friend Greg Johnson of New Ulm; four granddaughters, Jody, Jill, Jennifer and Jessica, one grandson, Jonathon; seven great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Carlie, Chayce, Gracie, Gentrie, Gradie and Paige; sisters, Esther Teschendorf of Moorhead, Rose Horton of Sleepy Eye, Florence Fran Haas of Rochelle, IL, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orrien, brothers,Henry and William Volker and sister, Ruth Anderson.
