Alice Burmeister

Alice Burmeister was born June 22, 1931, in Holland, MN to Dick and Clara (Zeinstra) Vanderwal. She grew up on a farm and was united in marriage to Darvin Burmeister on September 13, 1949, in Jasper, MN. The couple farmed outside of Jasper until moving into Jasper in 1973. Alice enjoyed being a farmwife and mother to Darvin and their children, Steven, Michael, Kimberly and Tim. In 2007 they moved to Sanborn, MN to be closer to family. They also enjoyed wintering in San Felipe, Mexico for 15 years. Alice sold Avon products and enjoyed gardening and collecting seashells and butterflies. She loved all animals, especially dogs, and was active in her church's Couples Club. Alice Burmeister died Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton at the age of 85 years. She is survived by children- Steven (Jackie) Burmeister of St. Paul, Michael (Gina) Burmeister of Omaha, NE, Kimberly (Tom) Kastner of Sanborn, and Tim Burmeister of Seattle, WA; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters- Dorothy Pap of Riverside, CA, and Jane Vanderwal of Edina; brothers- Richard Vanderwal of Nebraska City, NE, Clifford (Betty) Vanderwal of Seal Beach, CA, and Fredrick (Henrietta) Vanderwal of Pipestone; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Darvin in 2015; sisters- Della Stromberg, Betty Green, and Terri Lorenzen; and brothers- Garrett and Martin Vanderwal.
