Virginia Gina Bellig was born February 27, 1913 in St. Peter, MN to Frank and Florence (Black) Beiersdorf. At the age of 1 she moved to Lamberton were she grew up and graduated from Lamberton High School. She took nurses training at Union Hospital in New Ulm and received her R.N. Certificate. She married Clarence Giff Bellig in 1934 and they continued to reside in Lamberton. During her years in Lamberton she helped organize the Red Cross Blood Bank and continued to work with them for many years. She also gave home health care lessons during World War II, was a long time member of the Reading Club and Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton. Throughout the years she continued to do volunteer work for the local community. Her true love was spending time with her family, and spending many summers up in Cass Lake fishing and playing Bridge. She was also an active reader and was a crochet maker until the very end. Gina died on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls, Mn at the age of 92 years. She is survived by her two sons - Bob and wife Tucki Bellig of Bemidji and Denny and wife Joanie Bellig of Little Falls, MN; grandchildren and great grandchildren - Robyn and husband Bob Rode and their children - Cortney and Ashley of Alaska; Stacey and husband Todd Ellestad and their children - Josh and Kara of Andover; Paige and husband Jeff Strand and their children - R.J. and Mitchell of Mankato; Allison and husband Mike Hendrickson and their children - Mattia and Kendal of Little Falls; and Reid Bellig of Little Falls. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband - Giff in 1986 and her brother - Bill Beiersdorf.
