Alice Irene Andersen was born on August 16, 1915 in Comfrey, MN, the daughter of William Elizabeth (Beckius) Schleif. She grew up near Comfrey and attended District #63 country school in Mulligan Township and St. Paul Catholic School in Comfrey. Alice married Jess Andersen on February 21 1938 in Comfrey. The couple farmed east of Comfrey until later moving into town. Alice worked for 13 1/ 2 years at Toro Manufacturing in Windom, MN. In August 1997, she moved to Pioneer Homes in Neligh, NE. Alice enjoyed baking pies, cookies, and making meals for her family. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening, and the Senior Citizens Centers in both Comfrey and Neligh. Alice Andersen, age 92 of Neligh, NE and formerly of Comfrey died on Sunday, September 9, 2007 at the Memorial Hospital in Neligh, NE. She is survived by two daughters - Jan and husband Wes Countryman of Minneapolis, MN and Lynne and husband James Scholl of Elgin, NE; 7 grandchildren; and a great grandson. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband - Jess in 1982, her son - Donald in 2005; and sisters - Catherine Lutter, Minnie Schlief, and Agnes Mathiowetz.
