There will be a Parish Prayer Service on Sunday at 5:30 PM at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. Alfred F. Windschitl was born April 21, 1939 in Mulligan Township, Brown County, MN, the son of Ferdinand and Clara (Moldan) Windschitl. He attended school in Comfrey. On April 25, 1959 he was united in marriage to Sandra Amsden at the Japanese Martyrs Catholic Church in Leavenworth. Alfred farmed with his family, worked for Brown County, Culligan, and the Springfield PUC. Alfred and Sandy have lived in Springfield for the past 43 years. Alfred enjoyed sports, played baseball and softball, watching the Minnesota Vikings training camp and games, fishing, camping, sitting around the camp fire, playing cards with family and friends; playing computer games, sitting in front of the T.V. with the remote, and most of all - spoiling his grandkids. Alfred died on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at his home at the age of 69 years. He is survived by his wife - Sandy of Springfield; children - Terry of Springfield, Dale (Gina) of Sleepy Eye, Kim (Dan) of Comstock Park, MI, and Todd (Diana) of Springfield; 4 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; brothers - Sylvanus (Bev) of New Ulm and Edwin J. (Marylin) of Springfield; and sisters - Hildegard of Mankato, Delores of Gaylord, Marion of Comfrey; Clarice (Jim) of New Ulm, and Jan (Dick) of New Ulm. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister - Lucille Wall; and a brother - Larry (Sylvia).
