Albert Haler

Albert Haler age 77 of St. James passed away on February 21, 2021 at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, AZ. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2pm, Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. James Catholic Church in St. James with Father Timothy Hall as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in St. James. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to services. Albert Haler was born August 12, 1943 to Joe and Anna (Ries) Haler in St. James, MN. Albert grew up on the family farm and graduated from St. James High School. He joined the Air Force in February 1962. Albert married Karen Smith July 28, 1962. He spent the next 20 years in the Air Force. During that time Albert and family lived in Idaho, Germany, Mississippi, Arizona and North Dakota. Albert completed two years of duty in Thailand. In 1982 Albert and family moved to a farm north of St. James. Albert was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus (4th Degree), American Legion and VFW. He served on the South Central Electric and Rosendale Township Boards. Albert and Karen enjoyed camping in Minnesota's state parks and spending winters in Arizona. Albert enjoyed playing pool and cards, fishing, golf and archery. He is survived by his wife Karen, children Jim (Elaine) of St. James, Scott (Cynthia) of Bloomington, Michelle (Dan) Felix of Albuquerque, NM, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, sisters Rose Ludvigson of St. James and Ann Vale of Rochester. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, sister Leona (Harold) Ekstrom and brother Joseph.
