Albert Ambrose 'Bud' Ahern

October 13, 1933 — February 28, 2019

Albert "Bud" Ambrose Ahern was born in Madelia, MN, on October 13, 1933, to John and Mary Lillian "Lil" Ahern. Bud grew up in Madelia and was a graduate of Madelia High School in 1951. He married Carole Arlene Elvin on April 7, 1955, in St. James, MN. The couple resided on a farm in rural Madelia where they raised their five children. Bud was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Madelia, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and an active member in the area farming community. He could often be seen driving around the farm section with his dog companion, Jack. Bud loved to read, was a lifelong learner and a hobby gardener. He also had an avid interest in local history and was known for his memory of historical events. Bud particularly enjoyed visiting with his friends and, most of all, his family. He was known to spend hours playing cribbage with both. Bud's door was always open to his children and grandchildren. Holidays, including deer hunting season every fall, were cherished events surrounded by loved ones. He will be eternally remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and friend to many. Bud is survived by his children, Cynthia Hintz of St. Paul, MN, Scot Ahern, Nancy Ahern and her husband Michael Nesburg and Richard Ahern, all of Madelia, Robert (Elizabeth) Ahern of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Justin, Jonathon, Jeremy (Amy) Ahern, Jessica, Allison Hintz, Sarah, Jamie, Joseph, Charles Ahern; great-grandchildren, Jenica, Mason, Carter, Adeline, Garrett, and Maxwell Ahern; siblings, Marion (Curtis) Hanson of Mankato, MN; Myrtle Warner of Madelia, and sister-in-law, Alberta "Bobbie" Elvin of Worthington, MN.
