Alan Knutson

After cheerfully enduring through God’s grace the negative effects of a failing body, Alan Dean Knutson, age 64, on August 12, 2024, entered into eternal rest with no more pain and suffering.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Mountain Lake Alliance Church in Mountain Lake. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Mountain Lake.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.

Alan was born September 28, 1959, to Russell and Grace (Sevold) Knutson in Saint James. He graduated from Saint James High School in 1978.

Alan spent his formative years in Saint James, attended Dunwoody Institute and shortly thereafter made his way to Georgia with his young family. While in Georgia, Alan invited his parents to live with him and his family because of his father's failing health. Responding to a job offer in Minnesota, he returned with his family and mother.

While working on high-speed printers, Alan received several promotions and accolades. Due to failing health, he retired in 2021.

Alan thoroughly enjoyed mixing words and humor to get a laugh or smile from those around him. His joy of fishing culminated with catching a two and half pound bass on the dock in Mountain Lake.

Alan is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Timothy; daughters, Sara and Kelly; sisters, Rachel and Julie (Ron); brothers, Dennis (Athele), Dale (Nancy) and Ricky (Mary); and 9 grandchildren.

Alan was preceded in death by brothers, Mark and Robert; infant sister, Diane; and parents, Grace and Russell.
