Adeline Rempel, age 88, of St. James, died on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at the St. James Medical Center in St. James. Adeline Eldoris Nelson was born on September 20, 1920 at St. James, MN, to parents Herman Esther Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at West Sveadahl Lutheran Church. She graduated from St. James High School. Adeline worked various jobs before moving to California where she worked in the ship yards. In 1943, she returned to St. James where she married Bob Holte. Bob died in 1968. Adeline worked for the City of St. James from 1968 until 1973 when she married Russell Rempel. They couple moved to Sheldon, IA where she lived until 1989 when they returned to St. James. Adeline was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, church circle, and enjoyed cooking, baking, travelling and shopping. Preceding her in death were her 2 husbands, parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law. She is survived by her daughter and special friend Jayne Anderson and Jerry Hempeck of St. James, sons and daughters-in-law Charles Pat Holte of Colorado Springs, CO, Douglas Kathy Holte of Deerwood, 4 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, brother-in-law Herb Stub Engdahl of St. James and a life long friend Hazel Hahn of Robbinsdale.
