Adeline Jeanette Goossen was born on March 11, 1934, in the country northeast of Mountain Lake. Her parents were Elizabeth (Duerksen) and Peter W. Goossen. She grew up in the Mountain Lake area and graduated from Mountain Lake High School in 1952. Jeanette was baptized in 1951 at First Mennonite Church where she was a member. Later, she attended the Alliance Missionary Church.

She was united in marriage to Joseph Hunter Grant of Comer, Alabama, on August 18, 1961, in the First Mennonite Church. They were blessed with 3 sons, Scott Andrews, Timothy Hunter, and Todd Peter. They were able to attend all their sons’ weddings–one in St. Paul, one in Montana, and the last one in Sweden.

Jeanette worked at Butterfield Foods and then for the US Postal Service for 21 years. Jeanette, along with the family, made many trips to Comer, Alabama. Another highlight of every summer was the annual family trip to the lake in central Minnesota. After retirement, Jeanette and Joe went on a number of trips with United Prairie Bank. Jeanette loved quilting, gardening, canning, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Jeanette is survived by her sons, Scott (Jane) of Oakdale, Tim (Debbie) of Lake Crystal, Todd (Bitte) of Mankato; grandchildren, Jocelyn (Dan Ouderkirk) Grant, Sam (Emily Seipel) Grant, Mackenzie (Dylan) Niemi, Brianna Grant, Taylor (Aaron) Oie, Tucker and Taite Grant, and Faith Grant; great grandchildren, Everett, Avrahm, and Sutton Oie, Joy Grant, and Arlo Grant; brother-in-law, Allison Grant of Watkinsville, GA; sisters-in-law, Martha Grant of Comer, AL and Darlene Goossen of St. James, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jonas, Leroy, Dennis, and Donald; sisters, Clara Falk, Nettie Erickson, and Arlene Goossen; and brother-in-law, Frank Grant.
