Adeline Martha Enns

July 2, 1922 — April 13, 2016

Adeline Enns was born in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota on 2 July 1922 to Fred and Anna Wotschke on a farm northeast of town. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. She married Frank Enns of Mountain Lake, Minnesota on 3 May 1953. They moved to Billings, Montana where their three sons Dale, Duane, and Dean were born. Following a divorce, Adeline and the three boys moved to West Water Street in Sleepy Eye in 1962. Adeline was employed at various places in Sleepy Eye including the canning factory, the hospital, and the calendar printing company until she retired. Along with her three sons, Adeline also counseled, scolded, loved and cared for all the young people that surrounded her. She enjoyed visiting and social activities, gardening, crocheting, riding bicycle, and being with and supporting her immediate and extended family. She was an active member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Following heart surgery she suffered a debilitating stroke in 1996. Adeline was very strong and stoic and lived the next twenty years without speaking or writing because the stroke prevented her from thinking of the words. She was very determined and found other ways to communicate and accepted her new condition. Adeline moved out of the house on Water Street in 2005 and was very happy living by herself at Ross Park Apartments until 2016 when she moved to the Sleepy Eye Care Center. Throughout her life she exhibited a strong trust in God and his will which was her source of strength though times of peace and adversity. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Anna (Weilage) Wotschke, her sister, Arlene Wotschke, her brother, Armin Wotschke, her son, Dean Enns, and her ex-husband, Frank Enns. She is survived by her sister, Bernice (Wotschke) Geiger, brother-in-law, Herb Geiger, son, Dale Enns and spouse, Laurie (Wendinger) Enns, son, Duane Enns and spouse, Mitzi (Malin) Enns, granddaughters, Rachel Enns, Tessa Enns, Anna Enns, and great granddaughter Zariah Enns, nieces and nephews, JoAnn Mack and spouse Dave Mack, Ron Geiger and spouse Rita Geiger, Karen Purrington and spouse Steve Purrington, and Mark Geiger and spouse Jane Geiger.
