Adele A. (Soukup) Goblirsch, age 94, of Sleepy Eye passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital after a brief illness. Adele was born on February 1, 1924 in the Soukup farmhouse in rural Sleepy Eye to Charles and Amelia (Ruffing) Soukup. She shares her birthday with her fraternal twin Cordella. Adele attended District #27 Country School in rural Sleepy Eye and graduated from St. Marys High School in Sleepy Eye in 1942. After graduation Adele worked as a nanny in the community and eventually entered the banking business as a teller at the State Bank of Sleepy Eye. Adele was a career woman, working at the bank for over ten years until she met her life partner. On April 21, 1956, Adele was united in marriage to Edwin W. Goblirsch at St. Marys Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Edwin and Adele purchased a farm in Albin Township and partnered in building a successful dairy, chicken and crop farming operation. Adele converted her pre-marriage nanny and banking skills to the new role of homemaker, mother and business partner. The couple was blessed with two sons and three daughters, who together they raised on their farm in rural Sleepy Eye. After retiring in 1988, Edwin and Adele moved to Sleepy Eye where Adele was active at St. Marys Catholic Church. She cleaned the church weekly, volunteered to prepare funeral and school meals and belonged to the church quilting club. Adele also volunteered at the Next-Tu-Nu shop in Sleepy Eye. Adele and Edwin loved to travel and made several trips to Europe, Japan and China. After Edwins death in 1993, Adele continued to travel with her sister Cordella. She enjoyed reading the daily paper, jigsaw puzzles, sewing, creating latch hook rugs and embroidery. She embroidered scores of kitchen towels and baby quilts, all stitched with precision and love. She was deeply committed to her church and her family and loved seeing her grandchildren. Adele is survived by four children, Nancy (John) Wolf of New Prague, Joyce (Bill) Kuehn of Motley, Cindy (Keith) Scheid of Owatonna and Dean (Stacy) Goblirsch of New Ulm; two sisters, Cordella Soukup and Joan Portner of Sleepy Eye; a brother-in-law, Fr.
