William Richard "Dick" O'Callaghan was born on December 16, 1929 in Redwood Falls, MN to Harry and Eva (Ryan) O'Callaghan. He passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2022 on the family farm at age 92. After graduating from Springfield High School in 1947, he served in the US Army for two years. On February 7, 1961 he married Dorothy (Braunger) O'Callaghan in San Diego, CA. Dick and Dorothy made a life together farming for many years in Sundown Township in Redwood County, MN. Dick enjoyed having a pilot's license and flying his own airplane, traveling, playing cards, spending time with his family, and helping his son on the farm. He was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda and St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springfield. Dick was a member of the St. Mathias parish council, Wanda Elevator Board of Directors, and the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council. Dick was a man of few words but had a tremendous wit and sense of humor. Dick is survived by his children, Dan (Rita) O'Callaghan of Springfield, MN, Bob O'Callaghan of Minnetonka, MN, and Cathy (David) Moritz of Sauk Centre, MN; grandchildren, Michael and Helen O'Callaghan, Abby and Mia O'Callaghan, and Billy and Tony Moritz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy O'Callaghan; parents, Eva and Harry O'Callaghan; sister, Patricia O'Callaghan Ochs, and brother, Thomas Sean O'Callaghan.
