Walter Doering

Walter Emil Doering, born to Emil and Louisa (Wrucke) Doering on May 16, 1916 in Good Thunder, MN. Walter was baptized on June 14, 1916 and confirmed April 13, 1930 at St. John's Lutheran of Good Thunder. He attended grade school and Good Thunder high school. On June 20, 1943 he married Lauetta Kopischke. This union was blessed with one daughter, Deloris. They farmed for 22 years in rural Vernon Center, later moving to Madelia in 1965. Lauetta died January 26, 1968. While on the farm he loved to raise purebred hogs and showed them at the Blue Earth County Fair, receiving many champion and blue ribbons. On November 28, 1970 he married Violet Lorraine Arndt at Salem Lutheran Church. He was active at Salem, serving 7 years as treasurer. He worked for Erickson and Schmidt Livestock, LaSalle Elevator, Tony Downs, janitor at the Madelia Hospital and the Case Co. On December 10, 2007 he entered the Lake Crystal Nursing Home along with Lorraine. They both transferred to the Luther Memorial Home. Lorraine died on June 29, 2008. Walter loved to go to auctions, and listen and dance to old time music. Walter is survived by his loving daughter, Deloris (Donald) Lutz of Fairmont; 3 grandchildren, Rita Urban of Dacono, CO, Janell (Mark) Becker of Alexandria and Gary (Bobbi ) Urban of Mankato; great-grandchildren, Austin Becker of Alexandria, Jonathan, Sophie and Ella Urban of Mankato; step-children, Al (Audi) Arndt of Sioux Falls, SD, Karen Berg (Bert) Stanley of Paynesville, Dar (Pat) Arndt of Madelia and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Alfred Hiller of Mankato; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Visitation 9:00 am - 11:30 am Saturday, July 7, 2012 Salem Lutheran Church 109 3rd St. SE.
