Wally was born March 13, 1923, in Jeffers, MN to John and Alvina (Halter) Rand. He graduated from Jeffers High School and was drafted into the Army for WWII, being honorably discharged after 29 months. After returning from the war, he was united in marriage to his sweetheart Phyllis(Quade) in Jeffers on August 29, 1947. Wally worked for the REA (South Central Electrical Association) for 41 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Wally was a busy man, happiest when he was able to take care of everyone. He enjoyed woodworking, making many shelves and whatever was needed, for all of his family. Wally enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and spending time with his family and extended family. He and Phyllis spent a lot of time driving here and there looking for deer, eagles, and of course the St.James goat. Wally is survived by his wife Phyllis of St. James, daughter Brenda (Daniel) Dorschner of St. James, MN and their children, Dan Dorschner Jr. (special-friend Jill Haviland), of St. James; Jesse and Mark Anderson and their daughters Emma and Ellie of St. James, MN. Daughter, Linda (Donald) Wesseling of Waseca, MN and their children Angelia Wesseling (Fiancee Randy Hofmeister) and children Danielle (Fiancee Michael Timmerman), Colby of Waseca, MN; Shannon Wesseling and his son Dylan of Walla Walla, WA. Sister in Law and Brother in Law, Colleen and Wally Hedman of Storden. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mother and Father in Law, Walter and Vera Quade. Two brothers, Gordon Rand and Donold Rand, two sister in laws, Gloria Rand and Janet Miller. One brother in law, James Miller. Blessed be the memory of Wallace John Rand.
