Virginia Kay Karschnik

May 4, 1937 — December 12, 2020

Virginia Kay (Seagren) Karschnik was born May 4, 1937, to Alvin and Evelyn Seagren in Curlew, Iowa. At a young age, they moved to St. James, MN where she attended school, graduating in 1955. In 1957 she was united in marriage to Harvey Allen Karschnik. To this union, 4 children were born; Dean, Terry, Linda, and Russell. Ginia and Harvey were partners in life and in farming until their retirement in 1995, when they moved into town. They enjoyed "town life" for a short 2 years, when Harvey's life was tragically cut short by cancer. Ginia suffered a stroke in the Spring of 2019, and was subsequently moved to the Good Samaritan Village where she resided until her death on the evening of December 12, 2020, at the age of 83. Ginia was an avid gardener and had an amazing green thumb and love of flowers. She took great joy in pointing out the many varieties as she walked about her flower beds. Her home was rarely without a fresh flower arrangement recently picked from her garden, and she enjoyed sharing her talents with the altar guild at Trinity Church. Ginia also enjoyed sewing, wood carving, reading and most of all, spending time with her family. Ginia was a member of the Red Hatters and found great joy in volunteering at the Care and Share Shop every chance she had. She is survived by her children; Dean (Jennifer) Karschnik, Hill City, SD; Terry (Sandra) Karschnik, Mt. Lake, MN; Linda (Scott) Nesmoe, Mt. Lake, MN; and Russell (Joanne) Karschnik, Mt. Lake, MN; as well as 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; her sister, Maybin Meyers; three brothers, Charles (Shirley) Seagren, Wayne (Larinda) Seagren, David (Linda) Seagren; brother-in-law, Earl (Arlene) Karschnik; two sisters-in-law, Edna Kliewer and Elaine (David) O'Neil, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Evelyn; her loving husband of 40 years, Harvey; two brothers-in-law Ed Kliewer and Irvin Meyers; two nephews, Patrick Meyers and Michael Meyers. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Blessed be her memory.
