Sharon Schwardt

Sharon Schwardt passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health Care System-Mankato. Sharon Flatau was born February 11, 1946 in New Ulm, MN, the daughter of Vincent and Verna (Schwartz) Flatau. Sharon grew up in St. James where she attended St. James High School. On August 11, 1962 she was united in marriage to Bernhardt Schwardt. The couple made their home near St. James where they raised their two children. Sharon worked side by side Bernie on the family farm for 45 years. She then worked as an activities aide at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Nursing Home for 10 years. Sharon was a Master Gardener for over 15 years and enjoyed all of the activities around that. She played the organ at the Truman nursing home while Bernie conducted the services. Sharon also enjoyed deer hunting. Sharon is survived by her husband Bernie Schwardt of St. James, daughter Nyla (John) Johnson of Truman, son Nyles (Tracy) Schwardt of Jordan, mother Verna Flatau Lueck of St. James and granddaughter Emma Schwardt.
