Christian Mother's Rosary and a 7:00pm Prayer Service. Rose Teresa Svoboda was born on the family farm near Olivia, MN on May 14, 1917 to parents Charlie and Christina (Spevacek) Svoboda. Rose grew up on the family farm and attended rural school. She was Baptized and attended the Catholic Church in Bechyn, MN. On September 5, 1938 Rose was united in marriage to Lawrence Ruhland at Bechyn. They made their home in Sauk Rapids and Kimball before settling at St. James in 1941. Rose raised her family before entering the work force. She worked at S-T Industries and later at Tony Downs. She was active in the CCW, county home extension, and was a 4-H leader. Rose and Lawrence held both local and state officer positions in the State Square Dancing Federation. Rose also loved to cook and do a variety of sewing. Rose was a down to earth, friendly, caring person. She always gave comfort and support to those in need. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Donald Nusbaum, sisters Emily Ruhland, Blanche Schick, brothers Ed, Ted, Stanley, Pete, Jerry, Milo Svoboda and an infant brother Jerald. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Lawrence Ruhland of St. James, daughters and sons-in-law Geraldine and Jack Boesch of Riverton, WY, Margaret Nusbaum of N. Mankato, Kathleen and John Brenner of Edina, sister Violet and Roy Tesch of Bloomington, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Rose, our wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, we thank you for your faith, your strength and your love. We'll cherish our memories and go forward with your advise and your joy.
