Ronald Niel Alt

Ronald Niel Alt was born on September 9, 1932 to John and Ruth (Ellanson) Alt. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and lived there his entire life. Ron served in the United States Army for 2 years and was stationed in Germany. He married Betty Hughes on June 30th, 1956 in Norseland, MN, and the couple had 5 children. He was a member of the Sleepy Eye VFW and Mason Lodge and former Honor Guard. Ron loved horses and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After he retired from work, he enjoyed playing dice at Schultz Cafe with the guys. Ronald Alt age 86, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on January 22, 2019, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.  Ron is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Alt of Sleepy Eye; sons, Randy Alt of Jordan, MN, Rick (Kelli) Alt, Ross (Darla) Alt both of Casper, WY; daughter, Julie (Clete) Ludewig; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Cannon, Gail (Russell) Sorenson of both Sleepy Eye, Beverly Carnell of Bloomington, MN; Phyllis Thompson of Hillman, MN; sisters-in-law, Sandy Alt of Sartell, MN, Pat Alt of Sleepy Eye; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Rodney Alt, brothers, Charles Alt, Raymond Alt and John Alt, Jr, brothers-in-law, Tom Carnell, Art Cannon and Don Thompson.
