Ronald Engel

Ronald William Engel was born March 29, 1948 at New Ulm, MN, the son of William and Vera (Behrmann) Engel. Ron attended school in Judson, Madelia and graduated from St. James High School. He also attended Jackson Vo-Tech for auto mechanics. He served in the Army (1968-1970) and was a Vietnam Vet. Ron married Betty Anderson, they later divorced. They have 2 daughters, Dawn and Laura. Ron was married to Brenda Ellanson and they later divorced. On September 4, 1993, Ron married Lois (Krueger) Morrow. At this time he acquired 2 more daughters, Shelli and Cheryl and 2 sons, Frank Jr., and Michael. Ron and Lois lived on a farm site north west of Godahl for 16 years. On March 19, 2009, Ron moved to a nursing home because he has multiple sclerosis and Lois could no longer care for him at home. He was diagnosed with M.S. in January 2004 after he had symptoms for 3 years. Ron was a mechanic but his main job was truck driving. He owned his own truck from 1990 to July 2000. He worked for Star Bulk and Dittrich Trucking, New Ulm, Reddeman Trucking, Lowell Bloomquist Construction, Klassen Trucking, Mountain Lake and Fortune Transportation, Windom. Ron was a member of the VFW Post 1914, American Legion Post 33, Fraternal Order of Eagles #3420 and Minnesota Paralyzed Veterans. Ron is survived by his wife; Lois Engel of St. James, daughters; Laura (Bill) Sense of Maiden Rock, WI, Dawn Fast and special friend Gary Jones of Ormsby, step-daughters; Shelli La Plante of St. James, Cheryl (Eugene) Tauer of New Ulm, step-sons; Michael (Autumn) Morrow of St. James, Frank Morrow, Jr. of Eagle Lake, sisters; Mary Ann (Donald) Menssen of St. James, Lois Kaiser of Henderson, NV, 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and 3 sisters and 3 brothers-in-law. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials be directed to MS Society, Paralyzed Veterans of Minnesota or Augustana Lutheran Church.
