He remained at home for the past year due to his declining health. He was born on February 4, 1929 to Ted and Marie (Peters) Janzen in Mt. Lake--A family running a dairy business and known for their love of singing. Working alongside his father, he was skilled in painting. In 1948, he did short-term voluntary services down south. In his early twenties, he was enlisted in the military and served for our country in honor. He then worked in Toro Manufacturing in Windom MN before he started farming. On September 28, 1956, he married the love of his life, Joyce Janzen. They began their farm life shortly after their marriage, with crops which they picked corn with the cornpicker, and raising livestock. Roger retired from farming in 1993, and the couple began doing more traveling, including their time of spending warm winters in Apache Junction, AZ for 13 years. With their snowbird expedition, they met great friends and built unforgettable memories. Roger was always easily spotted in public for his cheerful laughter. His enthusiasm can be found when he worked on his International tractor, and took it to the Butterfield Threshing Bees. He enjoyed serving as usher at church and helping at MCC Relief Sales.
