Robert Max 'Bob' Hruby

Robert "Bob" Max Hruby was born on May 5, 1926 to Jacob and Mary (Ostermeyer) Hruby in Mankato, MN. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School and then attended Mankato Public Schools. Bob was a WWII veteran who enlisted in 1943 and served for 2 years in the Southwest Pacific on a patrol craft escort for the US Navy. He was united in marriage to Delores (Krenik) Hruby on September 27, 1950 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in LeCenter, MN. He drove truck for Carney Cement for 2 years. Bob was a heavy equipment operator for Jefferies Construction and Brown & Legal. He also drove gas transport for Kenny Khol's. In 1966, he bought and operated B & D auto supply until he retired in 1987. Bob enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, building radio controlled air planes, playing cribbage and a good game of pfeffer with family and friends. He also loved going to the lake home where he and Delores enjoyed countless hours with their children and grandchildren boating, fishing, water skiing and sitting around the campfire. Bob was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post 19 and an active member, usher and trustee at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madelia. Robert "Bob" Max Hruby age 91, of Madelia, MN died on August 11, 2017, at the Madelia Community Hospital. Bob is survived by his children, Linda Ezekiel of San Antonio, TX, James (Judy) Hruby of Madelia, Allan (Tammy) Hruby of Lake Crystal, Ronald Hruby of Madelia, Patrick (Deidre) Hruby of Madelia, Deb (Todd) Simpson of Madelia and Diane McMonagle of Madelia; brother, William (Rose) Hruby of North Mankato; 22 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Hruby in March 2016; parents, Jacob and Mary Hruby; brothers, Donald, Sonny Hruby; sisters, Helen Bohnert, Mary Embacher and Lena McCollum. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Donations will be made to various organizations important to Bob. Military Honors Military rites by the Madelia Area Veterans Honor Guard.
