Robert Kunkel

Robert Bob Kunkel was born February 25, 1949 in Mountain Lake, MN to August Darlene (Johnson) Kunkel. He attended school in Mountain Lake. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in February of 1968 where he served his country in Vietnam until September 1969. He was united in marriage to Judy Mathiowetz on July 4, 1968. Together they farmed near Butterfield, Mountain Lake, Darfur and Comfrey. In 1994 he could no longer actively farm but he always remained a farmer at heart. Bob loved spending time with his family, especially his 11 grandchildren and friends telling stories and playing yahtzee with Judy every morning. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judy of Sleepy Eye, children; Darren (Amy) of Comfrey, Tonya (Lance) Wendinger, Brandon (Jenny) all of Sleepy Eye, grandchildren; Matt, Tyler, Bailey, Ashley, Colton, Nathen, Harley, Allison, Devin, Isabelle, Ava, mother, Darlene, siblings; LaVonne VanZee, Russ (Nance) Kunkel, Sharon (Craig) Lipinski, Bekki Kunkel, Ron Kunkel and best friends, Loren (Gail) Klassen, Randy Harmes and Steve Cook and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, August and brothers, Ricky, Allan and Randy.
