Robert Fenger

Robert Charles Fenger was born January 18, 1949, in Springfield, MN, the son of Hilman and Eldonna (Bloedow) Fenger. He was baptized in March of 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sanborn. Bob attended Wanda schools through 8th grade and graduated from Wabasso High School in 1967 where he was active in softball, basketball and baseball. He then attended Ridgewater College and was united in marriage to Sherry Churchill on November 30, 1968, at Revere Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Minneapolis until moving to Springfield in January of 1969. They had celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary on November 30, 2008. Bob worked for Potter's West Side Auto, Stella's Body Shop, Central Publication, and farmed the family farm near Wanda until his death. He was a retired member of the Springfield Fire Department for 27 years and served as Fire Chief for 10 years. Bob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and served on the Church Council, the Deer Hunters Association, and the Fire Chief Association of Minnesota. He played a big role in his grandkid's lives and loved spending time with his family who showed him unconditional love. Bob was an outdoorsman throughout his life, whether it was fishing at the lake or hunting with his boys at the cabin. He also enjoyed fixing anything he could get his hands on. Robert Charles Fenger died Friday, February 13, 2009, surrounded by his family at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 60 years. He is survived by wife- Sherry of Springfield; children- Jason (Kelly) of Springfield, Chuck (Michelle) of Henderson, Crissy (Mike) Rogotzke of Springfield, Jen (Brian) Timm of Sanborn, and Mike and special friend Ashley Nelson of Springfield; grandchildren- Bridget, Amber and Olivia Fenger, Allsion, Samuel and Carly Fenger, Andrew, Ashley, Jacob and Nickolas Rogotzke, and Zachary and Joshua Timm; step-granddaughters- Madisyn and Audrey Timm; mother- Eldonna Fenger of Lamberton; father-in-law- Elmer Churchill of Springfield; brother- Harlen (Mary) Fenger of Lamberton; brothers-in-law- Chuck (Diane) Churchill of Chaska, Tom Churchill of Excelsior, and Dale Grund of New Ulm; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father- Hilman in 1995; mother-in-law- Avis Churchill in 1990; sister- Kay Grund in 2008; and many aunts and uncles.
