Richard LeRoy Wood was born on July 21, 1954 in Fort Dodge, IA. He was the oldest child of 6 to Kenneth and Marjorie (Bass) Wood. He married Rebecca Ann Eastwood on April 7, 1973 at Elk Point, SD. He worked at IBP, USG and retired from 3M in New Ulm, MN. They lived in Fort Dodge, IA, Walnut, IA, Otho, IA and moved to Sleepy Eye, MN in 2008 where they both retired and called home. He was a devoted hobbyist of pigeons and a proud member of multiple clubs including the NCIPA, ISPA, NPA, NAPCC, BCPPA and was part of/or supported numerous others. He enjoyed traveling to the shows to see his friends, meet new friends and help others in any way that he could. His smile and laugh were contagious and always lightened the room. His achievements were numerous but only secondary to his goal of promoting the hobby. In his younger years he was a flag football coach in Fort Dodge and would regularly attend games to watch the Dodgers play. He never missed his son's football games and even found time to make some practices to give out valuable advice. He was his family's biggest fan, no matter the dream they chased. He was an avid fisherman chasing both walleye and catfish. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and all-around friend. His unconditional love and advice will forever be missed but never forgotten. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Wood, sons, Danny (Danelle) Wood, Gowrie, IA, Ricky (Chrissy) Wood, Atlantic, IA, Jason (Shannon) Wood, Walnut, IA, brothers, Dwight and Michael, sister, Dorothea Wood, grandsons, Zachary, Corey, Austin, Devin and Derrick, granddaughters, Becca, Madisen, Bryanna, Blake, Cassie and EmaLee, 4 great grandchildren and father and mother-in-law, Jack and Barbara Eastwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Kenneth, sister, Barbara, infant brother and infant sister.
