Raymond Richard Oeltjenbruns, son of Fred and Elsie (Stenke), was born on November 23, 1928 in Mt. Lake, MN. He received his education at District 80 E country school. Ray was confirmed into his Christian faith on March 29, 1942. He became a member of Trinity Evangelical Church in Mt. Lake. Ray completed basic training in the 47th Division at Camp Rucker of Alabama and returned to farming in Mt. Lake upon discharge on September 20, 1951. On January 10, 1952 Ray was united into marriage to Verna E. Johnson at the Christian Reformed Church north of Mt. Lake. They farmed west of Mt. Lake for 13 years before moving into Mt. Lake. Ray worked at Mt. Lake Farmer's Elevator before his years of employment with Henze (Nickel/Boldt) Water Care. Ray especially enjoyed his interactions with people while working at Don's Standard, volunteering for Mt. Lake Fire Department, serving some time as fire chief, helping numerous farmers with late night field work, and couriering for United Prairie Bank of Mt. Lake and Windom. He cherished his 46 years of driving school bus transporting several generations of families and teams. Ray died on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Village in Mt.
