Phyllis Arnold was born March 4, 1920, in Twin Brooks, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Frieda Ernst. She married Robert Arnold on March 2, 1940, in Luverne, MN. Phyllis worked for Jim Carol Kleugel at their home, the funeral home, and the furniture store. She also worked for Harold and Emma Tassler in the Apparel Shop. She owned and operated Phil's Cafe in Lamberton for 26 years and will be remembered for pranks and ice cream cones. Phyllis was a volunteer with the Redwood County Relay for Life, a member of the United Methodist Church in Lamberton, and a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, quilting, and spending time with her family and her many friends. Phyllis died on Friday, February 23, 2007, in Brookings, South Dakota at the age of 86 years. She is survived by her children - Ruth Falk of Flandreau, SD, Linda Arnold of Brookings, SD, Dennis Arnold of Lamberton, and Gene (Jeanette) Arnold of Flandreau, SD; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brothers - Delford and Helen Ernst of Milbank, SD and Grandville (Bud) Ernst of Milbank, SD; a sister - Jasmine Thiele of Orono; a sister-in-law - Dorothy Hinders of Ames, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert in 1991; brother Jaswell Ernst; and 3great-grandchildren
