Pamfila Pam Ortiz was born on September 16, 1940 in Raymondsville, TX to Isabel Juana ( Barbosa) Ortiz. Pam lived in Earth, TX and came to live in Sleepy Eye in 1989. She has been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church since 1990. Pam liked playing cards, canning vegetables and salsa and gardening. She enjoyed having barbeques and spending time with her grandchildren. Pam was instrumental in establishing the hispanic catholic community and Spanish masses in Sleepy Eye. Her dogs, Oso and Mamas were the love of her life. Pam Astorga, age 70, of Sleepy Eye died on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the New Ulm Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Santiago Astorga of Sleepy Eye, children, Linda Marquez-Delacruz of Garden City, KS, Pat Marquez (Julie Whitted) of Robbinsdale, MN, Richard (Tammy) Marquez of Sleepy Eye, stepson, Alejandro (Nano) Astorga of Sleepy Eye, mother, Juanita Ortiz of Earth, TX, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brothers sisters, Rudy (Socorro) Ortiz of Lubbock, TX, Mary Hernandez of Smyer, TX, Joe (Mela) Gonzales of Earth, TX, special nephew, Mariano Cardona of Lubbock, TX, sister-in-law, Flora Marquez of LasVegas, NM, brother-in-law, Thomas Marquez of Albuquerque, NM and was very much loved by the Astorga family. She was preceded in death by her father, Isabel Ortiz, sister, Chavela Cardona, husband, Antonio Marquez, son, little Tony Marquez and niece, Laura Cardona.
