Orpha Rogotzke

Orpha Louise Piper, daughter of Charles and Addie (Ray) Piper, was born September 29, 1916, in Walnut Grove. Orpha attended Walnut Grove and Tracy Public Schools. After school she worked at Northwestern Bell telephone company as an operator in Tracy until her marriage to Wilbert Rogotzke on November 24, 1939. The couple lived and farmed in Germantown Township south of Sanborn from 1939 until moving into Sanborn in 1975. They then moved to Springfield in 2005. Orpha was a member of the Floral Garden Club for years and loved baking, crocheting, gardening and spending time with her family. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn. Orpha Louise Rogotzke died Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato at the age of 89 years. Survivors include husband- Wilbert of Springfield; sons- Gene and wife Sandy of Wabasso, and Garrey and wife Karin of Shakopee; daughter- Jackie and husband Rich Schiller of Olivia; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister- Marian of Slayton. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother- Donald; and sisters- Florence and Dorothy. Blessed be her memory.
