Memorials preferred to donor's choice. Neva Madora Tomschin was born July 17, 1924, in Jackson County, MN, the daughter of Emil and Caroline (Lidtke) Horkey. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Tomschin on September 17, 1943, at First Lutheran Church in Dundee, MN. Following marriage, the couple farmed in Bashaw Township until moving to Springfield in June of 2004. Neva was a lifelong Lutheran, a member of New Hope Lutheran Church of Comfrey (formerly Salem Lutheran Church) and the LCW. She enjoyed growing flowers, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and feeding and watching the birds. Neva Tomschin died Friday, November 6, 2009, at the Springfield Medical Center Hospital at the age of 85 years. She is survived by sons- Roger and wife Sherry Tomschin of Ravenna, OH, Duane and wife Barb Tomschin of Springfield, and Kevin and wife Janice Tomschin of Springfield; daughter- Janis and husband Brian Suess of Sioux Falls, SD; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; sister- Betty Whiteford of Windom; sister-in-law- Edna Horkey of Westbrook; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ben in 2005; sisters- Viola Horkey, Ruby Stover, and Florence Duncan; and brothers- George, Lloyd, Floyd, Clarence, Howard and Gordon Horkey.
