Nellie Peterson

Nellie Victoria Marie Peterson was born to Earl and Marie (Konz) Lyons on the Krieser farm (now the Dale Elsing farm) north of Darfur in Adrian Township, Watonwan County, MN on December 16, 1927. Nellie was baptized at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Comfrey. In 1946, she was confirmed and joined St. John's Lutheran Church in Darfur. Nellie married Ferdinand Henze on March 23, 1946 in Butterfield. They owned and operated a farm south of Comfrey for 18 years until Ferd's death. On the farm, Nellie always had a large garden and preserved all of the food they raised. In 1967, she and the children moved into Comfrey where Nellie married Roger Peterson on August 25, 1974. Nellie and Roger shared their love of fishing. Nellie had a kind heart and was always there for her family and friends with any help she could provide. She is survived by husband Roger of Comfrey; sons- Dale and wife Brenda Henze of Backus, and Delbert and wife Linda Henze of Mapleton; daughters- Jean and husband Gary Rathman of Comfrey, and Joanne Howk and special friend Lenny Hauser of New Ulm; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; brother Earl (Vera) Lyons; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Ralph Conors; husband Ferdinand Henze in 1964; second husband Armin Stark in 1969; grandson Craig Henze; brother James Lyons; and sisters- Eleanora Anacker and Janet Conors.
