Maxine Rieck

June 23, 1939 — January 30, 2014

Maxine Jeanette Rieck was born June 23, 1939 to Clarence and Laura (Trantow) Timm in Springfield, MN. After attending country school across from the Timm family farm, Maxine graduated from Springfield Public School and then continued her education at Hamline University. Her life long passion was carried out as a Registered Nurse. In December 1961, she was united in marriage to Donald Rieck, the couple later divorced. After living in several states, Maxine moved back to the Timm family farm in 2002. Maxine will always be remembered for her willingness to take the opportunity to help others and taking leadership roles. St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was a member, benefited from these roles as she was active as a Sunday School teacher, the women's circle, World Day of Prayer, the Senior and Bell Choirs. Maxine was also active in The Scarlet Chics Red Hat Society, Parkinson's support group and the food shelf. In her youth, she was involved in the Burnstown Bustlers 4-H group. Maxine enjoyed flower gardening, reading, listening to classical music, sewing, playing piano, jigsaw puzzles, watching football, and travel especially her trips to Greece and South Africa. She also had a great fondness for animals, especially cats and her dog, Cleo. Maxine was recognized greatly for her positive attitude. Maxine is survived by her daughters - Dena (Kevin) Kuenzel of Shorewood, MN and Donna (Nicholas) Krueger of Montevideo, MN; sister Lora Lee Punkie (Dale) Knuth of Worthington, MN; brother Rodney (Luisa) Timm of Columbia, MD; grandchildren - Emilie Sarah Kuenzel and Karl Lara Krueger; great grandchild Devin Kuenzel; former husband Donald Rieck of Overland Park, KS; godchild Janice Erickson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents - Clarence and Laura Timm; sister Dorothy; and brother Clarence, Jr. The family would prefer memorials to Springfield area organizations and charities.
