Mary Ann Davis

Mary Ann Davis was born February 21, 1925 to John and Anna Vogel on the family farm southeast of Sanborn in Stately Township, Brown County, MN. As a young child Mary Ann attended St. Raphael's Catholic Church where she was baptized. She attended country school #71 in Stately Township through 6th grade and then graduated from Sanborn High School in 1943. She then attended 1 year of teachers training in Blue Earth. Mary Ann taught 2 years in country school #53 south of Sanborn. On June 12, 1946, Mary Ann married C. Warren Davis. The couple farmed near Sanborn for 25 years until moving into Sanborn in 1970. At this time the couple ran the Sanborn Cafe until 1975 when they purchased Sunset Bar and Grill in Ruthton. In 1980 they purchased the Roadside Bar and Lounge in Taunton. In 1985 the couple moved back to Sanborn. Mary Ann enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, cards, visiting with family and friends, and traveling. She was active in the Legion Auxiliary and Watermelon Days. Mary Ann started the Senior Dining in Sanborn and also drove for Western Community Action for 14 years. An honor she received was being nominated as Senior Citizen of the Year in Redwood County. Mary Ann died on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Minneota Manor in Minneota, MN at the age of 92. She is survived by her children - C. Ronald (Roberta) Davis of Springfield, Michael Davis of Marshall, Kathryn (Eugene) Stern of Bridgeville, DE, Bradley (Judy) Davis of Carrollton, TX, Rachel (Arne) Petersen of Roswell, NM, Don (Ana) Davis of Nebraska City, NE, Dean (Carol) Davis of Corpus Cristi, TX, Diane (Richard) Myhre of Minneota; 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.; brother Gerhardt Vogel of San Diego, CA; sister-in-law Marianne Vogel of St. Peter, MN. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband - C. Warren Davis; brother - Raymond Vogel; and a sister Deloris Kastner.
