Marvin V. Hoffman was born on October 18, 1929 in rural Watonwan County near St. James to Alfred and Emma (Nibbe) Hoffman. He was baptized at home by the pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and confirmed at Galena Lutheran Church. He received his education in District 32 through eighth grade and graduated from Trimont High School in 1947. Marvin moved with his parents to the rural Darfur area in 1951 where he farmed with his father until 1959. Marvin was united in marriage to Lorraine G. Anacker on November 23, 1957 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Darfur, Minnesota. Marvin and Lorraine enjoyed many years in Darfur with their children, Larry and Lisa. Marvin had a long career in agribusiness. The names of those businesses evolved from the Darfur Farm Store, to Land O' Lakes in 1966 and Tri-County Co-op Oil Co. in 1973. He retired from a full time position in 1995, but for several years continued to help out during the busy season. Marvin was a member of The Darfur Fire Department from 1960-1981, The Darfur Commercial Club and St. John's Lutheran Church where he served in several volunteer positions. In later years, Marvin and Lorraine enjoyed camping with friends and getting away during winter months to Apache Junction, AZ. They moved to St. James in 2005 and resided there until moving to The Good Samaritan in Mt. Lake in December of 2014. Marvin had a strong appreciation for anything that had to do with a "Farmall M", collecting toy replicas and artwork that decorated their home. More importantly, he was most proud of their four granddaughters. Marvin passed away on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the age of 85. Marvin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine Hoffman of Mt. Lake; two children, Larry (Peggy) Hoffman of Northfield and Lisa (Kevin) Krahn of Mt. Lake; four granddaughters, Jessica Hoffman of Eagan, Heather Hoffman of Eagan, Stacie (Patrick) Schwab of Largo, FL., and Megan Krahn of Lake Crystal; two great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Schwab and Malia Schwab of Largo, FL., sister, Myrna Jean Blackstad of St. James; sister-in-laws, Shirley (Richard) Green of Mt.
