Marie Hillesheim

February 17, 1929 — April 14, 2015

Marie Clara Riederer was born on February 17, 1929, to Leo and Matilda (Platz) Riederer on the family farm in Brown County. She attended country school district #59. On June 2, 1948 she married Arnold Hillesheim at the Church of Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. Marie enjoyed ceramics, cross word puzzles, watching and feeding birds. She was one to never sit still and was on the go enjoying car rides, trips to the casino, traveling especially her trips with Arnold on cruises, to Mexico, Hawaii, and Branson. Her great love was spending with and taking care of her grandchildren. Time on vacation at the lake was always treasured as a family. For many years Marie worked as Arnold's assistant at the lumberyard, she was a Girl Scout leader, and member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband Arnold of Springfield; children - Mary Kay Kieper of Springfield and Mark Hillesheim and partner Kevin Wasilewski of Minneapolis; 8 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sister Marlene (Tom) Johnson of New Ulm; sister-in-laws - Lorell Riederer, Mary Ann Riederer, Mary Jane Hillesheim-Lake, and Arlene Kral; and beloved dog Miss Lilly. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; son - Mike (Nitsa) Hillesheim; brothers James, Wilbert, John, Leonard, Brother Cletus (Richard), Gerald, and Eugene; and a sister - Alyce Springer.
