Marian Ruth Pankratz age 97, of Butterfield, Minnesota died on May 17, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society-The Village, Mt Lake in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. Public visitation will be on Sunday, May 23, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Mountain Lake Chapel. Private services will be held at the Sturm Funeral Home, Mountain Lake Chapel. The clergy will be Rev. Timothy M. Hall. Interment will be at the Butterfield Mennonite Cemetery in Butterfield, Minnesota. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Mtn. Lake, Minnesota. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. Marian Ruth Stoesz was born on October 3,1923 in Mt. Lake, Minnesota, the only child of Jacob F. and Marie (Penner) Stoesz. She was a 1941 graduate of Butterfield High School and was class valedictorian. On June 8, 1945 she was united in marriage to Carl John Pankratz. To this union two sons were born, Kenneth and Alan. Shortly after their marriage Carl was called to active duty in the Army and was stationed overseas for two years in Japan and Korea. Throughout the years Marian was employed at the State Bank of Butterfield, Regehr Chevrolet in Mt. Lake, was the city clerk of Butterfield, where she worked out of her home office, and Pankratz Greenhouse. She also served as an election judge for many years for Watonwan County. Marian was a very active member of the Mennonite Church of Butterfield (now Butterfield Community Bible Church). She held many offices as well as being the pianist. Carl and Marian would often share their musical talents, with Marian at the piano and Carl playing guitar. She also served for many years with the Mary-Martha Mission Society. Marian will always be remembered for her excellent cooking and baking skills. She also loved reading, gardening, and making strawberry jelly. Marian entered the Good Samaritan Village in Mt. Lake in 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law John and Marie Pankratz, husband Carl on April 7, 2004, brothers-in-law Leo Pankratz and Harry Pankratz, and daughter-in-law Marlene Pankratz. She is survived by her sons Kenneth and Alan (Marjorie), both of Butterfield. Three grandsons, Keith (Amy) of Butterfield, Mark (Jjll) of Mt. Lake/and Scott(Jessica) of Mt. Lake. Six great-grandchildren, Heather, Elisabeth,( Noah), Jacob, Wyatt, Olivia, and Mason. Two sisters-in-law, Barbara Pankratz of Texas, and Patti Pankratz of Colorado, and their children.
