Dr. Lyle Trout, 93, of Lamberton passed away peacefully on July the tenth holding the hand of his beloved wife of 64 years, Bernice Ida. Lyle Eugene was born on October 27, 1921 on the family farm north of Tracy to Benjamin Mathew Trout and Ilah Lovica (Miller) Trout. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1941. He then attended Tracy Junior College and drove school bus which is where he met his wife. However, WWII called and Lyle was called to active duty on June 10th of 1943. He was assigned to a Landing Boat Division on board the USS Hyde in the South Pacific. When Lyle returned home he went straight to Michigan State University, in Lansing. He graduated from Veterinary College in May of 1951 and married Bernice I. Hilde Aasen on June 15, 1951 in Tracy, MN. They started their married life and his Veterinary practice in Lamberton. Lyle became a lifetime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association, the American Legion, and was a founding member of the Lamberton Lions. He felt strongly that every individual should participate actively in the building of your own community. He even called his young children and his brother to help in the building of the community swimming pool. He reached the ten gallon level for blood donations to Red Cross. From the time Lyle raised his own corn MN Hybrid back in 1941 and participated in the early general livestock judging teams for FFA at the state fair he wanted to farm. From this background he gave his vet skills for both 4-H and FFA in Lamberton. Lyle was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He was selfless in assisting his own father to save the family farm by dropping out of school to work on the farm in the 1930's. He continued to look after and assist his family members throughout his lifetime. However his devotion to his wife was always first. They worked his business together as she was his bookkeeper. They took camping vacations across the US with their young family and many trips with their veterinary colleagues all over the world. In retirement, they spent many fun winters in Arizona. When he could he loved to fly his airplane, to fish, work on lapidary and play bridge. He was much loved and will be missed. Lyle is survived by his wife, Bernice and his children Wynnell (Davis James) Kirkpatrick of Cokato, Juanita (William) Sorg of Hastings, and Cynthia (Curtis) Mattison of Hastings, grandchildren, Callista Troup, Kambria Robertson, Ketrah Schreifels, Nathan Kirkpatrick, Kezia Smith, Karl Sorg, Janna Sorg, Gabriella Sorg, Stuart Mattison and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Roger and Henry, two sisters, Elsie and Inez and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Catheryn, Myrtle and Dorthy and four brothers, Kenneth, Dan Barney, Gordon and Alfred.
