Lyle Ibeling

Graveside Service: 2:00pm, Monday, October 11, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Darfur, MN Lyle Terrence Ibeling, son of Elsie Uhlhorn Ibeling and John Ibeling, was born on November 20, 1937, in Comfrey, Minnesota. He was baptized on November 30, 1937, and confirmed on April 15, 1951. He graduated from Comfrey High School in 1955, and from the College of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota in 1968. He served his beloved country in the U.S. Army from January 4, 1960, to December 31, 1965. He received his Certified Financial Analyst certification in 1975. In 1996, he retired from Cuna Mutual Insurance Group in Madison, Wisconsin, and then enjoyed working on the family farm in Minnesota. He gave generously of his time to many organizations including Bethesda Lutheran Home (Watertown, WI), Lakeside Lutheran High School (Lake Mills, WI), St. Croix Lutheran High School (South St. Paul, MN), and Thoughts of Faith. His volunteer work took him to China and the Ukraine. He enjoyed researching his family genealogy and wrote a book for his children entitled, Passing the Baton, which included numerous scriptural references. He also enjoyed being a part of various agricultural groups. He was summoned by our heavenly father to sing praises with the angels in heaven when his place in our heavenly mansion was ready on October 6, 2010. He was called home while in the farmhouse he loved so much. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Ione Jaeger Ibeling, Waterloo, Wisconsin; a daughter Michelle Ibeling (Eric Johnson) of Austin, Texas; a son Joel Ibeling (Jolene) of Cambridge, Wisconsin; a daughter Janelle Ibeling Ness (Chad) of Chicago, Illinois; and a daughter Cassandra Wynia (Scott) of McIntire, Iowa. He was blessed and is survived by 9 grandchildren: Caleb, Grace, Taylor, Samuel, Olivia, Sydney, Jack, Brylee, and Colton. He is also survived by a sister Marilyn Feil (LeRoy Peterson), of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and many cousins. Pallbearers will be Roger Loof (cousin and close friend), Tom Mader (close friend), Ryan Jaeger (nephew), Scott Jaeger (nephew), Leon Jaeger (brother-in-law), Carl Jaeger (brother-in-law), Caleb Johnson (grandson), and Samuel Ibeling (grandson). Funeral services will be conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Wisconsin, by Reverend Adomeit on October 9, 2010, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held immediately preceding the service from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Internment and graveside service will be conducted by Ronald Uhlhorn and will be held in Darfur, Minnesota, at St. John's Cemetery on Monday, October 11, 2010, at 2:00 PM. Memorials may be given to Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, St. John's Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Wisconsin, Holy Cross Lutheran School in Madison, Wisconsin, and/or St. John's Evangelical Church in Darfur, Minnesota. "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14:1-3 (KJV).
