Lucille Dodd

December 24, 1906 — November 8, 2004

Lucille Shorty Dodd was born December 24, 1906 at Shelbyville, IL to Stanley and Florence (Mahin) Patient. Her family moved to Iowa before coming to the Butterfield area when Shorty was a child. Shorty spent the rest of her life in the Butterfield/St. James area. On November 23, 1929 she married Ray Slim Dodd in St. James, MN. She worked for Butterfield Foods before going to work for Tony Downs Foods where she worked for 30+ years before retirement. Shorty never had a bad word to say about anyone and was always very easy going. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, fishing, playing softball in her younger years, was an avid baseball fan, and truly adored her grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Raymond Sonny Dodd of St. James; two sisters, Alice Sonnabend and Hester Geiger; grandchildren, Jim, Cindy, Gene, JoAnn, Stan, Craig, Paula, Daren, Brett, and Kelly. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Lillian, Marie, and Mae; two brothers, Homer and Theodore; two daughters, June and Dorothy; one son-in-law, Wilmer; and one daughter-in-law, Arline.
