Linda Joyce Hesse

Linda Joyce (Lantz) Hesse, age 69, of Comfrey, Minnesota, was gently called to be with the Lord on May 28th, 2024 surrounded by the love and presence of her family. Linda was born to Everett and Mae (Blackstad) Lantz on January 8, 1955 in Mankato. Her life was blessed through her baptism, confirmation, and marriage at Albion Lutheran Church of rural St. James.

Linda’s early education began at Lake Crystal Elementary before her family moved to LaSalle, where she completed elementary school. She continued her schooling in St. James, where she graduated from St. James Public School in 1973.

On June 15, 1974, Linda was united in marriage to Mark Hesse, with whom she shared a lifelong journey of love and adventures. Together they raised three sons, Daniel, Steven, and Nathan, and a daughter, Angela. Linda’s heart and home were dedicated to nurturing her children and supporting the farm, where she lovingly prepared countless meals. Mark and Linda were devoted members of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Darfur, where all their children were baptized and confirmed. Linda had a strong faith and loved her church family. She was involved in the church Ladies League and taught Sunday School.

Linda’s kindness and generosity extended beyond her family. She was involved in Comfrey Jaycees, the Cottonwood County 4-H, and Women’s Extension group. She enjoyed caring for children during her time at the Comfrey Public School Daycare from 2000-2004. Linda also enjoyed making cross-stitch and quilting gifts for friends and family. Mark and Linda went on many trips together, including Hawaii, Germany, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Alaska, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and more.

Linda leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, blessed by her memory.

Linda is survived by her husband, Mark Hesse; children and their spouses, Daniel (Mindi) Hesse, Steven (Anna) Hesse, Nathan (fiancée Jenny Haugen) Hesse, and Angela (Kasey) Hulett; 12 beloved grandchildren - Joshua, Austin, Gavin, Ella, Bowen, Makenna, Makayla, Thomas, Lincoln and Kinsley Hesse, William and Eleanora Hulett; sisters and brothers, Bonnie Lantz, Darlene Odegard, Randy Lantz, Lonny Lantz, and Amy Lantz; and many other relatives. She entered into eternal peace with her parents, Mae and Everett Lantz; her brother, Alan Lantz; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carroll and Dolores Hesse.

A visitation to honor Linda’s life will be held from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Saint John’s Lutheran Church of Darfur. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00 PM. A celebration of her life and marriage of 50 years with Mark will be held at the Comfrey Community Center from 2:00 PM-5:00 PM.
