Levora Ida (Hansen) Stern was born on May 24, 1926 in Johnsonville Township, Minnesota to Harry and Ruth (Brandt) Hansen. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lucan, Minnesota. She attended rural school in District #72 in Johnsonville Township before graduating from high school in 1944 from Wabasso, Minnesota. After high school, she went onto Lamberton Teacher's Training Department and taught in District #29. She passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2012 at Season's Hospice House in Redwood Falls, Minnesota at the age of 86. On October 15, 1946, she married Gilbert Stern at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Lucan. After marriage, they farmed on the Albert Stern farm. She owned and operated her own antique shop on the farm and worked at the Sanborn Sentinel Newspaper for 17 years. In 1988 they retired from farming and moved into Sanborn the spring of 1991. Levora was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sanborn. She was a former Ladies Aid and Choir Member. She enjoyed refinishing furniture, going to auctions, playing cards, quilting, traveling to other states, and for 18 years enjoyed the summers at Norway Lake, New London, Minnesota. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, and especially her family. Levora is survived by her children Gerald (Janet) of Hertel, WI, and Grant (Betty) of Brooklyn Park, Grandson David and his children Bailey and Zalen, and Grandson Jason, Chaska. Two sisters, Wyona (Lloyd) Wolf, Jeffers and Videll Nelson, St. Paul and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert in 2007, a brother, Wendell and grandson Justin.
