Leon Amundson, age 73, of LaSalle died on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Madelia Community Hospital in Madelia. Memorial services will be 1:00pm, Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James with Rev. Ken Bowman officiating. Burial will be at 3pm at the Westbrook City Cemetery in Westbrook. Visitation will be one hour before service on Saturday at the funeral home. Leon Eugene Amundson was born September 17, 1939, in Slayton, MN, the son of Harry Selma (Ness) Amundson. He was Baptized on October 15, 1939 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Slayton. Lee graduated from the Fulda High School in 1957. He served in the US Army. He began his career by attending meat cutting school in Toledo, Ohio. He worked at Ittel's Meats in Howard Lake and the Red Owl stores in Westbrook, Mankato and St. James completing his career at LaSalle Meats in LaSalle. Lee enjoyed going to antique tractor pulls, playing the accordion, John Deere tractors and visiting with friends at coffee. Leon in survived by his daughter, Jennie (Curt) Ratzlaff of Wayzata, son, Paul Amundson of Crystal, grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Ratzlaff, sister-in-law, Delories Amundson, and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, sister, Jeanette Larson, brother, Harry Amundson, Jr., and brother-in-law, Norman Larson.
