Lennis R. Lenny Hanson was born December 23, 1935 at Tracy, MN to Ray and Louise (Gilb) Hanson. He attended school in Tracy and graduated from Tracy High School in 1955. Lenny was inducted in the U.S. Army in June of 1955 and was honorably discharged in June of 1958. On October 8, 1956 he was united in marriage to Judy A. Nett at Lake Wilson, MN. Lenny worked as an auto mechanic in Lake Wilson and Pipestone, MN before moving to St. James to become service manager at MM Motors. In 1970 Lenny purchased North Side Motors where he had an auto repair shop, later expanding his services to include boat and camper sales and service. In 1975 Lenny opened the self-serve Laundromat and in 1977 added a Whirlpool appliance dealership, retiring in 1997. Lenny enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing and spending time in his woodworking shop. He also enjoyed quiet time at the cabin with children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the St. James Eagles Club, the St. James American Legion, and the St. James Volunteer Fire Department from 1967 to 1990, retiring as Captain. Lenny is survived by his wife Judy of St. James; one daughter, Kathy and husband Mark Wolner of Cottage Grove, MN; two sons, Tim and wife Patti Hanson of Stanwood, WA, and Mark and wife Carolyn Hanson of Newcastle, CA; six grandchildren; two sisters, Donna and husband Junior Kathman of St. James, and Alice Cowell of Butterfield, MN; one brother, Richard and wife Norine Hanson of Tracy, MN; one brother-in-law, Ron Nelson of Coleman, SD; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step father; one sister, Dorene; two nieces; and one nephew.
