Joyce Marie Stark

Joyce Stark passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm. Joyce Marie Westman was the daughter of Franklin and Mabel (Senf) Westman born February 23, 1941 at the St. James hospital She lived with her family on the family farm west of St. James. Joyce was baptized on March 16, 1941 and confirmed on April 3, 1955 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in St. James, she later became a member at First Lutheran Church in St. James. Joyce attended the St. Pauls Lutheran Parochial School and later St. James Public School. She was very proud to have earned her GED later in life. She worked as a cook at Barbs Café in Gibbon for many years, she moved back to St. James and worked as an assistant activities director at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Society in St. James for several years. Joyce enjoyed art, drawing, painting, writing and doing puzzles. She also liked to play bingo, go fishing and spending time at the family cabin on Long Lake. Family was a big part of Joyces life, she enjoyed spending time and doing things with her children and grandchildren. Once Joyce moved to assisted living at Woodstone in New Ulm she felt that the staff and residents became part of her extended family and cherished their care and attention. Joyce is survived by her children; James (Linda) Stark of New Auburn, Daniel (Ann) Stark of Gibbon, Amy (Scott) Sanders of St. James, grandchildren; Dustin (Levi) Schimmelpfennig (Stark), Jimmy (Hannah) Stark, Miranda (Matthew) Murphey, Jacob Ziemer, Brianna Sanders, Brittany Sanders, Willie Sanders, Ethan Stark, great-grandchildren; Shay Stark, Naomi Murphey, Connor Murphey, a sister LaNola Plath of Waconia, sister-in-law Carol Westman of Butterfield, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Debbie (Dave) McGuire of St. James, Pamela (Dave) Forsberg of St. James their children and grandchildren will remain in her heart forever. She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Mabel, siblings Nelda Westman, Nancy Nordby, Martin Buzzy Westman, niece, Mavis Nordby, brothers-in-law Bernard (Bernie) Nordby and Lester Butch Plath.
