Joseph Sellner

Joseph H. Sellner, 60, of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, died Monday, August 21, 2017, as a result of a fatal vehicle accident. Joe was born October 26, 1956, to Philip and Catherine (Wiltscheck) Sellner in Sleepy Eye. He attended St. Marys Catholic School, graduating in 1976. Joe was dedicated to farming in partnership with his brothers, Phil and Mike. Throughout his life, he had various jobs but was currently working at Leavenworth Silage Company. As a life-long member of St. Marys Catholic Church, he served faithfully as an usher and was "keeper of the keys" (the person who locked the church on Saturday evenings). In addition, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic United Financial, and the Minnesota Drifters Motorcycle Club. Joe made use of his woodworking skills, creating special and personalized gifts for weddings and graduations. He took pride in his restored 1973 Dodge Charger and in doing a job well. He was an avid auction goer and collector with a wide variety of interests. Joe enjoyed striking up a conversation with anyone he met. Joe is survived by his siblings, Kathleen (Chuck) Hansen-Lamb of Avoca, AR, Rose Marie (Tom) Schaefer of Madelia, MN, Philip Sellner, Mary Beth (Chuck) Botz, Michael Sellner all of Sleepy Eye, Bernadette (Bernard) Windschitl of Houston, MN, Anita (Glenn) Jensen of Springfield, MN, and Donna (Tony) Steward of Sioux City, IA; brother-in-law, Mark Gores of Clements, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Catherine; sister, Frances Gores; two infant sisters, Patricia and Dorothea; nephew, Adam Jensen; and two brothers-in-law, Ron Hansen and Kelly Schroeder.
