Joseph "Dutch" C. Schroepfer

Joseph "Dutch" Clement Schroepfer was born on January 15, 1930 in Sleepy Eye, MN to Felix and Amelia (Sellner) Schroepfer. After Felix passed away, Amelia married Tony Heitzer. Dutch graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1948. He worked for Gambles Hardware, Berdan Wells and Standard Oil Station. Dutch served in the US Army from 1951-1953 where he was stationed in Germany. He married Beverly Voss on August 23, 1955. He then worked at Stark Creamery for 11 years, Sleepy Eye Creamery for 4 years and AMPI in New Ulm for 23 years when he retired in 1992. After retiring, he drove school bus, umpired baseball and was the grounds keeper for Sleepy Eye Public School from 1992-2006. Dutch was a member of the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard, St. Mary's chain gang from 1961-2004 and was honored with sweatshirt and award for 40 years in 2001, Bowling Hall of Fame in 1994, Sleepy Eye Golf Club, Catholic order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus, St. Mary's Church and received the MN State High School Hall of Fame Distinguished Service Award in 2011. He loved to follow sports and also enjoyed his fishing trips to Spider Lake. He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Sleepy Eye, children, Barb (Alvin) Krzmarzick, Tom (Brenda) Schroepfer, Jim (Maggie) Schroepfer, Don (Connie L.) Schroepfer, all of Sleepy Eye, MN, Roger (Amy) Schroepfer of Huntley, IL, grandchildren, Becky, Brent, Brian, Laura, Angie, Christy, Justin, Megan, Sonni, Mikail, Sophia and Sidney, 11 great-grandchildren and brother, Ollie (Dorothy) Schroepfer of New Ulm, MN.
